In its day the Lehigh Valley
Railroad was known as the route of the Black Diamond. This section
of the old rail line was originally part of the Southern Central
Railroad that was later purchased by the LVRR company. It its
heyday it carried both pasengers and freight from Sayre,
PA to Fair Haven NY. The tracks and stations along this line were
abandoned in the 1950's.
The photo below shows a steam
engine of a type that frequently travelled through this area in the
1940's.
