Geocache Description:

An ammo box in the woods off the trail.

**NOTE: Park ONLY inside the park west of the cache. Do NOT park on Halls Mill Rd and approach from the east; this puts you on Private Property. The cache IS inside that park boundaries. If you see Private Property or No Trespassing signs you have gone too far.**

What do you do on Christmas Eve when you have all your shopping and wrapping already done? You go out for a hike and place a geocache!

Yahoola Creek Park is one of the newest and nicest parks in Dahlonega. It is so well hidden that almost no one knows about it. One of the best features of the park is the extensive walking trail system. Finding this cache will take you along these well designed gravel trails.

The cache is placed near the top of the hills, near the trail system, and although you do need to leave the trail to find the cache, it is requested that you stay on the trails as much as possible to minimize the impact on the ecosystem. The cache was placed with permission from the Lumpkin County Parks and Recreation Department.

The park is open from 9:00AM to 6:00PM, so this cache is not available in the evenings or at night. Pets are welcome provided they stay on a leash. Ample parking is available, and there is a kiosk containing trail information as well as an educational area at the trailhead. Walking stacks are also available at the kiosk - please return then if you borrow one for your hike. In the summer, a vegetable garden is planted in this area. You may pick what you like from this garden, but please take only some, not all.

The initial contents of the cache include several Travel Bugs, a multitude of Christmas decorations, and various other goodies.

Congrats to Frogtown for the FTF!
