Geocache Description:

The Peter Pan caches are an international grouping of five multi-caches. Find foreign friends and solve five caches in four countries across three continents. NOTICE: Please read note at the bottom of this listing for important changes that have been made to the Peter Pan Cache series, effective 01 November 2010

Each cache has a micro / nano container not far from the Peter Pan statue. Inside each stage one micro / nano are the LONGITUDE and LATITUDE of two other Peter Pans. Find geo-friends, swop LONGS and LATS - and go find your own final stage two cache. If any of your team of friends with whom you have swopped Longitudes and Latitudes claim a find, then you can also claim their (overseas) find. This gives you a total of Five possible claimed finds.

Your log will need to name the members of your team

To find the Peter Pan (Perth) stage one go to the given Location where in front of the statue you will find a plaque on the ground. Using the Date that Peter Pan was given to the kids of West Australia subtract 1371 from the year to give you the S31:57.??? And subtract 1300 from the year to give you E115:52.??? You are looking for a sticker (or if sticker is missing a fridge magnet approximately 50mm x 20mm.) u need the sticker or magnet that says it is "Jan 30 2016 updates co-ords". Thank you Tinkerbell

Each Peter Pan cache is a multi-cache. The given location is your local Peter Pan statue designed by Sir George Frampton (1860-1928) following a commission by J M Barrie. Seven castings were made and the statues reside in:

The London statue was erected in secret during the night and 'magically' appeared on 1st May 1912, having been originally commissioned in 1910. There was no publicity before the statue's arrival and on the day, Barrie placed this announcement in The Times:

"There is a surprise in store for the children who go to Kensington Gardens to feed the ducks in the Serpentine this morning. Down by the little bay on the south-western side of the tail of the Serpentine they will find a May-day gift by Mr J.M. Barrie, a figure of Peter Pan blowing his pipe on the stump of a tree, with fairies and mice and squirrels all around. It is the work of Sir George Frampton, and the bronze figure of the boy who would never grow up is delightfully conceived."

It is said that J M Barrie was not particularly happy with the initial design and that Belgium gained the first casting, whilst that in London is in fact the second casting. More likely is that the Brussels Peter Pan was Frampton's war memorial gift to Belgium - it dates from 1924. Certainly questions were raised in the Houses of Parliament about the appropriateness of the 1912 statue in a Royal Park. Kensington Gardens is where J M Barrie met the boys who were to be the basis of the Peter Pan story, and the exact location was chosen by Barrie who himself then lived close to Kensington Gardens. The London statue suffered damage in 1943 and in 1952 the pipe was stolen, although quickly replaced.

PLEASE READ – IMPORTANT CHANGES – EFFECTIVE 01 NOVEMBER 2010 Since the Peter Pan cache series was placed in early 2008, two of the seven caches were archived as a result of changing conditions at their cache sites. These caches were in London and Brussels. In order for the series to continue, the coordinates contained in the first stages for the other caches in the series have had to be rearranged effective 01 November 2010. If you have obtained coordinates for either the London or Brussels caches from your team members in other countries then you will need to have those team members revisit the cache involved to obtain the corrected coordinates. If that is a hardship, please contact the appropriate cache owner to work out an equitable solution. As of 26/7/2015 the final cache is now a magnetic nano.
