Roof Rats have a strong tendency to avoid new objects in their
environment and this neophobia can influence control
efforts, not to mention their low F-T-F counts. It may take them
several days before they will approach a bait station or new
cache!
Roof Rats have an excellent sense of BALANCE and are very AGILE
CLIMBERS. No climbing is required to locate this cache. Roof Rats
also have a keen sense of hearing which aides in their ability to
detect and escape muggles - er - danger.
So, use these "Geo"/"Ratt" skills, except for the neophobia. OH,
and please - do not park on the "main" street - use the side street
or the nearby parking lots. (and bring a pen or pencil) We might be
watching....
The
cache - like the cars that used to park in the lot - belongs
"TAIL-END in first!!!" (his tail wraps over his head to his nose -
use tip of tail to pull). Use a thumbnail under his chin -
in the "crack" to open the container.
Thank-you j_cerwin for the in-field fix!
