This cache will bring you to
City Hall Park in beautiful downtown Tell City, IN. This park is
the home of Tell City’s annual Schweitzer Fest, one of the
longest-running annual festivals in Indiana. Don’t miss the
stunning fountain with the statue of William Tell and his
son.
City Hall Park is also the
home of City Hall, which houses the city government of Tell City.
The City Hall building was built in the late 1890s for
approximately $24,000. According to historical records, the
building was originally intended to be a new courthouse for Perry
County. Citizens of nearby Cannelton, however, beat Tell City to
the punch by building a new courthouse in Cannelton, the county
seat at that time. Without being used as a courthouse, Tell City’s
City Hall was much too large for just the city government. As a
result, several of its rooms were used as classrooms for school for
many years. Eventually, Tell City grew large enough to need most of
the space in City Hall for governmental purposes. The building
remains a beautiful landmark in the downtown area.
There is parking on the street
very near the cache site. You’ll need to be stealthy, as the
potential for muggles is quite high in this area. You’re looking
for something tiny with only a log. Bring your own writing
instrument and have fun!
