- “Spelonca” è sinonimo di grotta. Sembra che da questo
termine abbia preso il nome l’antico abitato di pescatori di
Sperlonga. Nella zona, infatti, sono presenti diverse grotte
scavate nella roccia. Molto vicino a questa località si eleva il
Monte Picchione, una torre naturale nella quale vi è appunto
scavata una spelonca. Sopra il monte vi sono i resti di un
fabbricato che la tradizione vuole fosse uno dei covi di Fra
Diavolo Link.
Lateralmente alla grotta si notano i resti di una scalinata che
conduceva al fabbricato in cima al monte. Dalla grotta si gode di
un panorama meraviglioso su Sperlonga, il mare e la vicina Villa di
Tiberio, realizzata anch’essa in una grotta sul mare. Ho aggiunto
due Way Point: uno per parcheggiare l’auto, l’altro per indicare
dove parte il corto sentiero che porta alla grotta.

-"Spelonca" is a synonym of cave. It seems that from this
term it has taken the name the ancient fishermen village of
Sperlonga. In the zone, in fact, various caves are dig into the
rock. Little distant to this locality rises the “Picchione”
Mount, a natural tower in which is dug a spelonca. Over the
mount there are the rests of building that the tradition wants was
one of Fra Diavolo’s lair Link. Laterally to
the cove the rests of a stair way that leads to the building on a
top of the mount. From the cave you are enjoyed a wonderful
panorama of Sperlonga, the sea and the near “Villa di Tiberio”, it
realized also in a cave near the sea. I have added two Way Points:
one to park the car and the other to indicate where begins the
short path that leads to the cave.
