How to
use a Roundabout!
There is one thing that
really bugs me about driving in Utah County. Nearly everyone
that is trying to use a roundabout does not understand the basic
rules of a roundabout. Off course, anyone that is reading
this is only reading it for humors sake.
To me this would mean you
should probably stop and yield to the other driver. However,
many times have I had someone talking on there cell phone cut me
off on a roundabout and I had the right of way. This happens to me
more times than I have been able to count. If you are on your
cell phone, and going to this roundabout please hang your phone
up.
- Vehicles in the roundabout
have priority over the entering vehicle
See this part is so
important we have to put it in the rules twice. Just in case,
someone does not understand it the first time. I think that the
next time some pulls out in front of me with there cell phone on
there ear I am just going to have to give them a little love
nudge.
- No parking is allowed in
Roundabout
No kidding? I thought I-15
was just a giant parking lot as well. I saw this at the roundabout
in Provo at Center Street and 800 East. You do the math on this
one.
- All vehicles circulate
around the central island
Now this is a concept that
we could all find very helpful. All traffic traveling in the
same direction. It is not that easy for some people in this
valley to comprehend. Even with all the help from the gutters
and large cement islands trying to steer everyone in the same
direction, the large arrows might be a dead giveaway as well, and
the signs that say “one way” with a big arrow should help.
Just remember that in the United States we always go counter
clockwise in roundabouts. If that is to hard to understand, just
remember if you are exiting a roundabout on a left hand turn you
may have done it wrong. Enter to the left exit to the
right.
Therefore, in conclusion
this is an easy cache to find and remember roundabouts are your
friend.
