Geocache Description:

By the end of 1942, during World War II, there were some 26 Military units camped along the Stuart Highway between the 39 Mile and 55 Mile pegs. Life at these camps was far from comfortable after the bombing of Darwin.

Due to the vast nature of the 'Miles' camps there are many foundation slabs scattered along the highway from the 39 mile peg southwards.

It is fitting that the cache container is a standard ammunition tin that is hidden in between the 39 mile and 55 mile pegs. It is not far off the highway and is located on the southern bank of a small stream.

Good luck and have fun!
