4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

a short mystery cache along the Bidjigal Walking track. Its also suitable for mountain bikes, and off road strollers.

I hid this cache ages ago, but then the GPS died and I lost its exact location. Recently I found some notes I took at the time, and have been able to work out some of the details. I hope you can find it for me, as it was a nice new ammo tin, and I'd hate to lose it forever. Distances are as the crow flies or kookaburra in this case.

I'm sure I started off at the coordinates listed. I recall there was a map there, but it was fairly useless to me as it said " you are here" in about 5 different places...

  • I did travel on a smooth track, for about 180m, then it turned to dirt.
  • There was a sign with a picture of an Ornithorhynchus anatinus on it, and at that point the GPS said I was about 351m from my starting point.
  • I am sure I continued along this track till an intersection, which was about 372m from the start. I went to the left at that stage.
From here my memory fades a little.
  • I remember walking down a pathway and was confronted by 6 wooden posts pointing straight up. I dont know what direction I went then, but it was towards the left.
  • It started to rain and I sought shelter under a little overhang about 7m up from those strange posts.

Somewhere there you should find what you are looking for.
