A resort in Central Austin?!?!
If events had transpired differently circa 1900, Central Austin could have been the location of a fine lake created by Alamo Dam on Shoal Creek. This 3-stage multi-cache has as its second stop an information sign in an area of Austin that now offers shops, restaurants, medical buildings, and a lovely greenbelt along Shoal Creek.
The stages of this multi-cache are close together. Doing this as a park-and-walk would be very reasonable and can certainly be completed in less than an hour for most folks. The potential route for this multi is very close to some other caches and the start and end points are not far from one another.
The starting coordinates are at a pole with a phone number on the top. This will be 800-ABC DEFG
The second stage is at the coordinates N 30 1B.AC4 W 097 45.FDB
The second stage takes you to a sign with pictures and a historical description of the area around Alamo Dam. The following questions give you the hints you need for the final stage:
Which year did Gideon White and Edward Seider buy this land ? IJKL
What price, in cents, did they pay per acre? MN
Which year did Alamo Dam wash away? OPQR
The final location, which has the cache container, is located at the coordinates N 30 18.IKR W 097 44.LNM
BE SURE TO USE STEALTH! This is very near a trail that is heavily traveled, especially in the evenings and on the weekends -- and the ones on wheels can come past pretty fast!!
This is a small cache with room for small swag. When placed, the container was loaded with some rare and some not-so-rare world coins.
