High grass, rural terrain, uneven ground. May lose some DNA retrieving this one. Hide good or better than found.
Dedicated to the early pioneers. This one is very rural and a great example of the durability of the sod houses built by the early pioneers. Here is an excerpt from the Nebraska Historical Society.
"The Wallace W. and Libby King Waterman sod house, located nine miles north of here on the
Day Road, was built about 1886. The original dwelling had three rooms. In 1925 it was enlarged
and remodeled by Virgil and Helen Burke Waterman, and the sod walls were covered with
concrete. The family lived in the house until 1989, and it was donated to the Deuel County
Historical Society in 1993. The house is listed in the National Register of Historic Places."
Small plaque outside the house tells about the same story and a historical marker in the park at Big Springs (9m S) also make mention of the structure. Notice the wall about 2 ft. thick.
Have fun. Hide as good or better. Made this one an ammo can for durability.
