Radio Aussie Traditional Cache

in our disclaimer.
This is a small, well hidden cache located near the main entrance to the old Radio Australia, Cox Peninsula Receiving Station.
This site commenced operations in 1967 and in conjunction with the nearby transmitters, was built to boost the short-wave transmissions from Radio Australia at Shepparton Victoria into Asia. Using powerful 250 Kilowatt transmitters, the signal strength was greatly boosted into places such as Indonesia and China. News of the Tianamin Square Massacre for example was broadcast into much of China at the time.
Cyclone Tracy in 1974 damaged the transmitting station to such an extent that it was closed down for 10 years before broadcasts recommenced in 1984.
Radio Australia ceased using the site in 1997.
