Geocache Description:

A simple 2 stage cache that starts in the district of Eccleston in St Helens.

Dedicated to my Dad, Charlie Wright who passed away in March 07.

It starts from the Smithy where he was apprentised as a Blacksmith in the late 40's. I visited here many times as child as Charlie stayed in touch with the owner, Ellis Hall. I remember vividly the heat from the forge and the difficulty in just walking across the smithy floor that was littered in 100's of discarded objects, mostly horseshoes. The smithy is now part of the Eccleston Village Hall complex and has itself been opened as an excellent heritage centre. The opening times are limited to a Spring / Summer season but full details can be found at (visit link) . It's well worth a return visit later in 2008.
Visit the coords and take some information from the small mozaic set into the garden between the Smithy and Village Hall walls.
There are 4 letters and a blacksmith's tool. The first letter is what number in the alphabet? This is AB. The forth letter is CD. Finally the tool depicted on the right is a ???? and this has E number of letters.
Use these letters to solve the following;
N53 27.CDB, W2 46.(C+D)(B+C)E. This gives you the final which can be walked to in less than 15 minutes. Driving is only a couple of minutes and there is parking nearby.
This area looks like it will be overgrown in Summer so bear that in mind. Also, it's a popular place for the local children so keep your eyes peeled for snooping kids.

Thanks for visiting.

FTF Goes to John Stead. Thanks also to John for the minor corrections required to the cache details.
