Geocache Description:

English version

Ludgerovice jsou jednou z nejvetsich obci v Moravskoslezskem regionu i v cele Ceske republice vubec. Prvni zminka o Ludgerovicich (Rudgersdorfu) je uz z roku 1303.

Prostrednictvim teto serie bychom vam chteli priblizit krasy Ludgerovic a zajimava mista, ktera byste zde mohli navstivit.

Pred hostincem byvala informacni tabule s mapou cyklostezek Severomoravskeho kraje, ktera jiz bohuzel vzala za sve.

STAGE2: V centru Vrablovce vedle byvaleho obchodu s potravinami "Jednota" stoji pomnik obetem 1.svetove valky. Na mramorove desce muzete najit 3 letopocty. Ciferny soucet nejstarsiho letopoctu nam da cislo M a ciferny soucer nejmladsiho cislo N.

N49° 53.N3 N3=N*10+L-1
E018° 13.E3 E3=L*100-M*10+23

Ludgerovice is one of the biggest villages in Moravia and Silesia but also in the Czech Republic. The first mention of Ludgerovice (or Rudgersdorf as it was called) is from 1303 so it has indeed a long history. The area of 1083 hectares belongs to Ludgerovice and over 4600 people lives here. It has also one settlement called Vrablovec that borders with Hlucin. Ludgerovice belongs to Opava district. However, it had always a tight relations with Ostrava, because the Ostrava city lies only a few kilometers from the end of the vilage.

During this set of caches you will be able to visit some beautiful and interesting places in Ludgerovice.

This multicache will show you Vrablovec settlement, that belongs to Ludgerovice. There's not many historical sources explaining the foundation of Vrablovec. Anyway, it's connected with the increasing number of inhabitants of Ludgerovice during the begining of the 19th century. A legend says that the name "Vrablovec" was derived from the name of a farmer named "Wrobel" (vrabec => sparrow in polish language). The basements of the settlement should lay on his land. But is seems that there was not anybody holding this name living in Ludgerovice that time, so the origin of the settlement's name is still some kind of a mystery.

Maybe the fact that the settlement is somehow isolated by fields from other part of village contributed to tendencies to make Vrablovec independent. Anyway so far it's still a part of Ludgerovice.

This short "sightseeing" tour around Vrablovec is the third part of our cache serie that should shouw you interesting places in Ludgerovice. It's possible to get by car nearby all stages of this cache. However, you can also approach it as a 30 minutes long walk (recommended).

You can park your car at the original coordinates near the pub "Na Vrablovci". If you would continue the road away from the maint road you can catch sight of fields and mainly a brickyard in Hlucin. It used to be and informational table showing the bikeways of Moravian-Silesian region. Since now is the table gone, you should notice fenced tenis court. There are red/white stripes painted on the two poles of the fence, that reach the road. Add the number of the white stripes on both poles together and you will get number L.

N49° 53.N2 N2=3*L-3
E018° 13.E2 E2=6*L+300
(IMPORTATNT NOTE: For all numbers NX and EX the following rule is applicable. If the result is lower than 100 you should made a 3-figure number from the result by adding appropriate number of "0" to the left - i.e. if for example number N2=3, as the result to get the coordinates you should use "003")

STAGE 2: You can find a monument for the soldiers who died in the World War the 1st in Vrablovec "downtown" near the former food shop "Jednota". It has a marble board that contains 3 yearnumbers. The sum of the digits of the "oldest" yearnumber fives us number M while the sum of the digits of the "youngest" one gives us number N.

N49° 53.N3 N3=N*10+L-1
E018° 13.E3 E3=L*100-M*10+23

STAGE6: The last stage will lead us to Ostriz. This small area has been used (and actually still is) as a place where entertainment events (like masquerades or balls) were organised. Unfortunately, the complete area decays a lot last years. You can find a stone plate/monument at the coordinates. Add both yearnumbers from the plate to get the final number O.

FINAL coordinates of a cache:
N49° 52.N4 N4=O-(M+N)*100-30*L+12
E018° 13.E4 E4=20*M+30*L-5

This is the second cache of the cache serie. We would like to end this serie with not very ordinary bonus cache. If you want to hunt the bonus cache, don't forget to save the bonus number W (from the logbook).

Please hide the cache back as it was.
The cache has been shortened, slightly reworked and the final location has been changed recently. However, some other maintenance and changes will follow (still some areas to improve :) )
