Further to "A Plug for Manton", this cache is located above the dam wall, at the dam itself.
Manton Dam, built in 1942, was Darwin's first reliable water supply. Today, although its water is still used in emergencies, the Dam is a popular recreation area, particularly for water sports such as skiing, jet skiing and fishing.
Manton Dam is a pleasant destination for an easy day trip from Darwin. The shaded picnic areas with barbecues make an exellent location for a water side picnic or BBQ.
Manton Dam Recreational area is open from sunrise to sunset and is a short drive in from the Stuart Highway. Please take care when crossing the railway line.
