2nd Annual Celebrate Summer in the MidSouth Event

Let's celebrate the upcoming summer season in Mississippi in the very good company of new and old geocaching friends.

When: July 26th 2008

Time 10am-until

Where: Sardis Lake, MS (Sardis Lake)

Price: FREE!!! (Donations welcome)

Camping available at: Sardis Lake Campground

Hosted by:

(MSGA) MS Geocachers Association

(GOWT) Geocachers of West Tennessee

(NELA) Northeast Louisiana Geocachers Association

All geocachers and children welcome!!!!

RAIN or SHINE, as we will have a covered pavilion, right next to the restrooms, playground and swim beach.

Plenty of parking is available.

Special caches are being planned, and if anyone has special ideas, contact us to include those ideas. Name tags will be available and are highly encouraged, as it helps us meet NEW CACHERS that we see in the logs.

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE NOT ALLOWED AT THE PARK.

Please remember to log travel bugs in advance, we will have a table set up for you to swap out travel bugs, remember to log those travel bugs as soon as you return home.

There will be several games during the event, so bring your enthusiasm and get ready to cache.

We will be giving away a number of door prizes. If you are interested in donating something please contact one of the following Celebrate Summer Rep's. Or if you have any questions, please feel free to send a PM.

Here is a non official list of the day’s schedule.

9 am - 10 am Registration for event, pick up packet of information and temporary caches. List of all caches in park.

10 am - 12 noon Caching in the park, while others sit around and chew the fat.

Noon to 1 pm This is a potluck dinner. Don’t forget to bring your meat for the grill and a side to share. Please post what you plan to bring. Again please remember there is No alcohol allowed in the park.

1:30 – Introduction of milestone geocachers. MSGA Members will be honoring those in MS that have reached a milestone.

2:30 -5:30 Games, door prizes & Event caches (all ages)

6:00 - Cleanup and Goodbyes

What (to expect) for the kids: We will have some temp caches set up for the kids, as well as a children’s craft table, our pavilion is also right beside the playground and swimming beach. We will also have several scavenger hunts ready. Parents if you have a two way radio, we ask you to please bring them with you to the event, as it really helps to keep track of the kids and we have some games to play with the radios.

What (to expect) for the adults: Welcoming the newcomers to geocaching, congratulating the geocachers who have 1-3 K milestones. Being able to meet and greet our old and new cachers, whom we haven't seen in awhile.Grabbing some smilies and bragging about who done it and who had a hard time finding it.
