A Place in the Sun Too Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Kosh Naranek: As there's been no response to my note, and no maintenance performed on this cache for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the near future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Cache is an ammo can hid in traditional geo-style a few steps from the trail. It should not be a difficult find, but there is a significant elevation change over the .3 mile hike.

This cache was originally released as a mystery cache, "A Place in the Sun", and garnered only a handful of finds over two years. Releasing it as a traditional will hopefully get it some more action. Cache contains some good swag and the original log book.

The name Temecula comes from the Luiseño Indian word "Temecunga" - "temet" meaning "sun" and "-ngna" which means "place of". The Spanish interpreted and spelled the word as "Temecula". Over the years, the meaning of "Temecula" has been translated into several different versions of this interpretation, including the most popular, which is "Where the sun breaks through the mist". There are several places you could park to make the hike to the cache. There are many paths that can be taken to the cache. Parking south of the cache will be longer with less elevation change. Parking north of the cache is shorter but steeper. Be cautious of footing on steep trails. Some are quite steep, but no bushwacking is required to get to the cache. The hike and cache location offer some spectacular views of South Temecula. The cache is jammed full of some interesting treasures. The cache site should be fairly muggle safe, but please be sure to cover completely for the next cacher.
