Biography:
Mike, his wife Bertica and their daughter Alexis Ileana (4) reside in Pinecrest, Fla...earned his degree in finance from Florida International University, where he was All-Conference three times...had his uniform number 15 retired, the first active Golden Panther baseball player to receive the honor...turned in a .353 career average, fifth-best in school history...was the Trans-America Athletic Conference's Student of the Year and was an academic All-American honoree in 1995...graduated in 1991 from Coral Gables (Fla.) High School, where he earned All-State honors in baseball...enjoys fishing and spending time with his family in the off-season...Is the president of the Mike Lowell Foundation, which aids in part of cancer treatments for children and helps youth sports programs...in 2006, participated in the Bo-Sox Family Day at Fenway Park, participated in the Red Sox Destinations program in both Chicago and Boston, signed autographs for PMC participants as part of PMC Day at Fenway on July 15 and took part in the Jimmy Fund Radiothon in between a doubleheader with the Yankees on Aug. 18...with the Marlins, served as a spokesman for the "Marlins @ School" program...attended the Children's Cancer Fund Holiday Party and Magnum's Force Holiday Delivery in 2003...was named the "Person of the Year" by the Boys and Girls Club of Miami in 2003.
About the cache. The cache is winter friendly and is located in an area that is quickly becoming a favorite of myself and Stephanie's. We find ourselves hiking here nearly every weekend and we want to share it with others!
