Punxsutawney Phil's Prognostication Party Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Gryffindor3: Okay, it's time to close the book on this one. Many thanks to everyone that attended, whether for just a few minutes or a couple of hours. It was great to see old friends and make lots of new ones. We hope you enjoyed the games, the food, and most of all, the company. We look forward to seeing all of you again at future events. Thanks again!--Gryffindor3

Geocache Description:

It's the biggest weather event of the year! Will Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow?

The most important of all weather-predicting animals, Punxsutawney Phil (perhaps better known as the "groundhog"), is due to emerge from his winter home in just a few weeks. Legend has it that if he sees his shadow, we're in for six more weeks of winter. Forecasting the arrival of spring can be tricky business, though. Will it be cloudy on February 2nd? A "no-shadow" result, of course, means that spring is just around the corner.

In honor of 2/2/2008, we'll be celebrating with lots of "twos". We'll play two simple games--1) Poker Walk-Don't-Run and 2) GeoBingo II: Power Blackout. We'll be giving away two copies of "Groundhog Day" on DVD, starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. We'll also place two new caches in the area.

Rules for "Poker Walk-Don't-Run" can be found here.

DATE: Saturday, February 2, 2008
TIME: 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.
LOCATION: Peppino’s Italian Restaurant & Lounge, 6460 Irvine Boulevard, Irvine, in the Woodbury Shopping Center; for more info about the restaurant, click here.

Why not start off February right? Spend some time with fellow cachers, grab a bite to eat, and discover what Phil is thinking. Spring is just around the corner... or is it? ;-) Join us at Punxsutawney Phil's Prognostication Party and find out!

"This is one time where television really fails to capture the true excitement of a large squirrel predicting the weather."--Bill Murray, as weatherman Phil Connors in "Groundhog Day"
