COORDINATES ARE CLOSE BUT NOT EXACT: THIS IS A LETTERBOX SO USE
THE DIRECTIONS BELOW TO FIND THE CACHE.
Here is a chance for area geocachers to find a letterbox and a
cache in one stop! Please don't take the stamp inside, it's part of
the letterboxing game. Coordinates will take you to the cache
itself.
This is a letterbox hybrid which means it's also listed on the
Letterboxing website, linked above. Not only is this a GEOcache
Letterbox Hybrid, it is also a Where's GEOrge themed box! The stamp
is a self-inker with oil-based ink (won't freeze!) that I had made
but no longer use.
Go to the parking lot for the SOFTBALL FIELDS at TRUSSVILLE
SPORTS COMPLEX. From there follow these directions:
Park and find the fence with the pedestrian entrance. Follow the
gravel road, pass TWO brick structures. Once you pass the second,
largest brick structure, with grey and red accents, take the MAPLE
RIDGE TRAIL to your LEFT. From the end of the chain-link fence, go
25 PACES. Look to your LEFT and you will see a POINTY STUMP. The
box is hidden under a large dead tree just pass the stump.
There are separate logbooks for Geocachers and Letterboxers. The
Letterbox Logbook is in a marked bag along with the stamp, please
don't take it. Sign in the Geocachers logbook.
Letterboxing uses clues and directions instead of coordinates to
find boxes. Hope you enjoy the hunt letterboxing style!
