Footpaths from all directions, can be muddy and and stony. You have to walk uphill from most starting points but one.In winter you need boots or wellies.
Frey, the Viking god of fertility, marriage and growing things.
When crops were sowed in the spring a hole was dug in the middle of the field. Pieces of bread and some eggs were put into the hole and some beer was poured on top. This pleased Frey and he would probably then help to make the crops grow tall and strong.
This cache is on the Viking Way Footpath...Hence the name, as is in the middle of agricultural land.
The main route is from Fir Tree Lane which links Ancaster to Sudbrook. There is space to park at the start of the bridalway. The ascending walk up is 1.25 miles and should take about 25mins.
There are other routes:
from Carlton Scroop on the Viking Way footpath.
from Ermine Street , midway between Ancaster and Byard's Leap, on the Viking Way footpath.
from Sudbrook and from Normanton.
All routes can be muddy in winter but worth the views all year round.
There is generally a lack of muggles apart from horse-born ones and air-born ones from nearby R.A.F. Cranwell...better check anyway!
The actual cache is in a sandwich box and is on the large side of small !!! It will take CD's etc.
