Geocache Description:

FTF ****** KIFCOG ******* FTF
A really easy geocache suitable for families - available from 9 till 5. The cache location is exposed so be carefully when replacing the cache.

A very pleasant walk for the whole family, and suitable for kids to find. The nature reserve has well mantained paths, which I have taken a buggie over many times.

Sorry, no dogs except guide dogs allowed on site.

Visitor Centre open daily 9 am to 5 pm,including Bank Holidays. Shop sells food and refreshments and has a wide range of optical equipment and gifts.

The reservoir, which can be seen from the woodland, is an SSSI and the whole Water Company area around the reservoir has statutory designation as a bird sanctuary. The spectacle of 80,000 swifts, swallows and martins feeding over the water during peak fly hatches is just one of the delights for the summer visitor, although most people will probably associate the reservoir with large numbers of waterfowl. Gadwall, tufted duck and pochard are three of the important breeding species and year-round coot numbers are of national significance.

Much of the reservoir can be scanned from the hides, with especially good views over an island that is popular with wildfowl and a raft provided for terns to nest.

For a list of activities occuring at the visitor center, follow the link below. (visit link)

When writing your online log, please try to mention the different types of wildlife seen on your way to the cache - and try to leave something of a wildlife theme in your log - a photo from the hunt perhaps?
