Geocache Description:

Although the terrain and geography no longer reflect it, this very site used to be Jones Street in original Old Town Yuma. Jones Street was famous for its string of bars and "bawdy houses". At one time there were more than 5 houses specializing in horizontal entertainment. It is now the entrance to Gateway Park, a City of Yuma park. As a historical aside, the sign announcing the park is constructed of the city's old water settling tanks which were removed to make way for what is now the Marriott Pivot Point Hotel and conference center. Their removal prompted a firestorm of controversy from those who believed the City was tearing apart their history. That large piece of machinery nearby is the Blaisdell Sand Filter, Yuma's very first water treatment plant.

The cache is a plastic Lock and Lock container, similar to Tupperware, approximately 8" X 6". It is waterproof and should remain that way. It contains 4 AA Batteries, a blue LED light, AAA mini mag light on carabiner, set of ear buds (new, never used), LED flashlight on carabiner, red rescue whistle, YPD money clip, Las Vegas geocoin, log and pen. Please return it to it's hiding place as good or better than you found it.

Park and walk.
