Geocache Description:

This is a 5 part multi-cache near the top of Lake Mountain west of Utah Lake.

The top of this mountain is a large area which is fairly flat with some small rolling hills.

There are two ways to reach the summit. The first is Mercer Canyon starting at N40° 12.273' W111° 58.756' and the other is Israel Canyon starting at N40° 19.001' W111° 53.775'. Both routes leading to the summit, and the routes between the caches, require a medium to high clearance vehicle. If you choose to travel Isreal Canyon, it is steep with loose rocks, which will require a 4x4.

Here is brief description of the caches:

Cache #1: Found using the coordinates listed above. Clear, pint sized, plastic bottle with a blue lid. This cache only contains a log book and the coordinates for caches #2 and #3.

Cache #2: Clear, pint sized, plastic bottle with a red lid. This cache only contains the latitude coordinates for cache #4. No log book.

Cache #3: Clear, pint sized, plastic bottle with a red lid. This cache only contains the longitude coordinates for cache #4. No log book.

Cache #4: Green ammo box. This contains a log, the coordinates to cache #5 (virtual), and the treasure. The original contents of the cache are:
  • Two CD-ROM games
  • Blank CD-R
  • Pack of playing cards
  • Bag of marbles
  • Blue stuffed bear
Cache #5: This is a virtual cache. The coordinates for this cache point to something I believe geocachers may find interesting. You can only get to within 10 feet of this point. Hint: It has something to do with earthquakes.

Have fun and enjoy the views.

Note: Caches 1, 2, and 3 have a rock inside them for ballast. Do not remove. Thanks!
