This cache has been archived.

Krypton: As there's been no response to my previous note, I assume that the cache is not going to be repaired or replaced, so I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us, and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

Continuing on with a theme, as set out by Mythbusters: Break Out The Guns!, as well as TA's #300: MythBusted, and finally my own addition: Mythbusters HQ.

From the early days, Episode 5 included "Hammer Bridge Drop". The myth, potentially born from a lone survivor of a group of men who fell from the under-construction Golden Gate Bridge:

If falling into water from a great height, will dropping a hammer or other heavy tool break the surface tension of the water, and thus reduce injury / save your life?

This myth takes Jamie and Adam to my old alma mater of Mare Island Naval Shipyard. Here, with the help of the ever-brave Buster, the gang would put this myth to the test. I don't want to spoil the fun for you, so you'll have to see for yourself if this one is plausible, busted, or confirmed.

While I can't say for certain if they used the large crane "D8" you [may?] see before you - the experiments definitely took place in this general area. Can't you just see Jamie high atop the crane boom, or Adam in his underwear diving down to search for Buster's lost leg?

Stealth may be required at certain times, but when I placed the cache, the place was deserted. Come on, now - there are PLENTY of Mythbusters locations to be identified out there!
