The Yesteryear series of caches are not meant to be difficult, but are meant to tell a story about a landmark or event of when I was a kid growing up in Ottawa.
The items described may or may not be in existence anymore. They are simply mentioned as my own personal "walk down memory lane."
Some of you may remember them - some of you may not.
I hope you enjoy them...

YESTERYEAR – The Filt

Back in the day, this place was called "The Ottawa Water Filtration Plant".
Now, thanks to the population surge, this place is now called "The Britannia Water Filtration Plant".
My friends and I used to just simply call this place "The Filt".

This building has probably doubled in size since I was a kid. The darker red coloured brick building on the South side was the original building(s). All the lighter coloured buildings on the North side, closest to the Ottawa River, is all the new stuff.

I remember my friends and I coming here and hopping onto the roof and having a blast trying to see if the security guards could ever catch us - which they never seemed to be able to do.
Then, later at night, I would bring my large portable stereo, my friend would bring his electric guitar, and another friend would bring his "Pig-Nose" amplifier (anybody remember those?), and we would plug everything into the (now cordoned off) parking spots that had a block heater electrical outlet, and my buddy would go nuts practicing his Jimi Hendrix guitar feedback while I recorded it all. Of course, we needed to give ourselves a band name, so our choices were either "Scumface", or "The Smoldering Carcasses".
Scumface won, and I believe that somewhere in my possession I still have the original audio recording of "Scumface - Live at The Filt".
So recline back in your La-Z-Boy, kick the dog out, slap on the Scumface Live vinyl, crank up the amp to max and break the knob off because Scumface is what it's all about...

The container you will be looking for is a small watertight Thermos container which has 2 compartments. The main compartment is for small trades. The log book and a pencil are within the upper compartment inside the lid.
Please rehide it where you found it and try to conceal it as best as possible.

Free public parking can be found at approximately N45 22.433, W75 47.734, and geo-canines are allowed.

THIS CACHE IS CLOSE TO MOVING WATER, SO SAFETY AND COMMON SENSE SHOULD PREVAIL WHILE SEEKING THIS CACHE. CHILDREN AND PETS SHOULD BE KEPT AT A DISTANCE.

I hope you enjoy my “Yesteryear” walk-down-memory-lane caches.
