This park was built on the land that once housed the Jewel Tea Company's Headquarters. The Art Deco building was gray in color, and nicknamed the Gray Lady. The Jewel Tea Company started in Chicago in 1901, and moved it's headquarters to Barrington in 1930. Traveling salesmen provided household supplies, everything from coffee and baking powder to cleaning supplies, linen and china. As the building lay vacant for several years, various plans for the land were created. The final outcome was this fine park.
