Geocache Description:

Ever seen a flying Monkey? Me either, this cache is about Harpies!

Out for a nice stroll along the Lower Johnson Trail below the Pythian Road trailhead, Kiwigirl and I were very surprised to spot a mythological terror known as the Harpy.

We watched from a safe distance as it flitted around for a while before gliding into its cavernous lair at the base of a large Oak tree. Not certain of what we should do, we snuck up and dropped a boulder over the entrance of its lair to keep it from escaping before a Boread could come and capture and tag it.

Are you that brave Boread? Do you have what it takes to capture the dreaded Harpy and place your tag on its scrawny little leg?

Parking at the end of Pythian Road, 8:00 AM til Sundown. As with most county parks, there is a fee. Currently only $5.00. For more info on the Hood Mountian parklands, please visit: (visit link)
