Sitting in a Catbird Seat Traditional Cache
Craftea's Archives: I couldn't find it, either, and I didn't enjoy being on this trail today enough to want to replace the cache. Sorry!

A person is "sitting pretty" or in a "favored position." This saying was popularized, at least, in Texas by a short story entitled "Catbird Seat," which was written by the well-known American writer of humorous fiction--James Thurber. Thurber, of "Walter Mitty" fame, gives credit to Red Barber--the down--home Southern baseball sports announcer for introducing this rural idiom to the mainstream American public. According to Thurber, the phrase means: being in an advantageous position.
That is how I feel each time I hit a milestone, so as Flyboy hits 400 I wanted to place this cache in honor of him. Maybe you’re curious how I met him, and I can tell you, when I first met him, he was NOT sitting in a catbird seat. No, he was finally, after several attempts, DNFing one of my caches. He’d only gotten maybe 2 other caches and there he was attempting mine. I wrote to him and gave him a piece of advice: Don’t look for my caches till you’ve had a bit more practice at geocaching.
He took it to heart, because he practiced, asked lots of questions and then got good enough to answer a few of mine, since he’s more technically minded than I. Just to make sure he was learning, we went caching together and almost managed to clear out every cache on Camano Island in one (very long) day.
Later, Flyboy made it a personal mission of his to find every active Craftea cache out there. There are a lot of them, and most aren’t your run of the mill easy ones. He’s accomplished that, even getting FTF on 8 of them, and he’s cached all over the states as well. I think it’s well past time he had a milestone cache done in his honor and that he lost “Newbie” status.
Congratulations, Brian! Playing fair and waiting for the cache to get published, this was his 9th Craftea cache FTF.
"I can't do it" never yet accomplished anything;
"I will try" has performed wonders.
