Geocache Description:

This small cache is hidden in the middle of an old historic cemetery in Daretown, Salem County.

WELCOME TO Daretown Cemetery in Salem County. Pittsgrove church was founded in 1741. It is a historical landmark in the Daretown section of Upper Pittsgrove Twp. This was the site of the first Presbyterian church in Salem County. There is a church, school house and cemetery at this site. For those that believe in the paranormal, there have been two investigations that have shown significant activity at the school house and cemetery. The cache is not located near a grave...Do not disturb monuments. If you find a fallen US flag, please stick it back in the ground. As always, please be respectful, and cache in, trash out.

Cemeteries are places of learning that tie the young and old together to who we are and where we have come from. From cemeteries we can learn about the lives of people who make up a community. We can learn about landscapes and plants. We can enjoy artwork and architecture.

You have probably noticed symbols on most headstones. These symbols, for the most part, have meaning. If you would like to see what these symbols mean, please click HERE So walk around, admire the area and learn something interesting. We hope you enjoy your visit!

The Spirit Quest series began in Indiana and has grown to include numerous other areas. It is designed to take you to historic cemeteries or other historic sites.

We have brought this series to New Jersey to help identify cemetery caches and to help teach cachers about those that went before them. If you have a cache or know of a cache in New Jersey that you feel would be a nice addition to the series, please contact Gipsie at geogipsie@yahoo.com.
In five years, the quest has grown to over seven hundred caches hidden in Indiana , Ohio, Michigan , North Dakota , Georgia , Wisconsin , Minnesota and Ontario (and now New Jersey ) and the hiders have grown to over fifty cacher teams. Thousands of cacher accounts had logged over 50,000 finds on these series.

The cache is a small cammoed lock and lock with a log book, pencil, and small items to trade. Please place as found and enjoy the beauty and history of this old place... IF YOU DARE!!!! Thanks to all who have added the great pictures of this interesting area! CONGRATS TO GUENTHER GANG FOR FTF! (again)
