When coming from the north go to this waypoint:N 43 deg 11.150 W 116 deg 10.876. Then swing around to the west.
The Range Road is legal for anyone to travel, however do not leave the road and head toward the large tower on Christmas Mountain. Anything toward the outside of the circle made by Range Road is BLM land. The areas are clearly marked.
Welcome to Gore's Cave!
Lava Tube - Cave. These are formed when fluid, molten lava flows out of the ground, it behaves like a stream of water working its way downhill. But soon the "stream" surface cools and hardens. This crust then insulated the molten lava inside, enabling it to keep flowing. The molten lava inside the crust eventually flows out leaving the crust as the walls of a lava tube or "cave."
Lava tubes are usually ten to twenty feet in diameter and can be thousands of feet long. They can have stalactites and stalagmite, too, but in lava tubes they’re formed by dripping lava, not water.
Please be aware that cave exploring is an inherently dangerous activity that, like rock climbing, is made safer by the use of proper equipment and knowledge.
