This cache is one of two caches hidden either side of idyllic
Stewarts Bay, adjacent to my family's favourite camp site on Garden
Point. GPS accuracy was pretty ordinary at time of placement for
both caches, but as with most of my hides the container is amongst
an obvious pile of rocks (hehe).
The cache can be accessed from the camp site, but the
recommended way to access this cache would be from the Stewarts Bay
car park. This approach will take you on a 40-50 min return walk
that is very pleasant, albeit a little rough in parts. From the far
end of the beach, follow the track and at the first junction follow
the sign to Garden Point to bypass the camp site. At the end of the
camp-ground, there's a fairly obvious track. About 10m along this
track, look for the smaller track that branches off to the right.
It's a bit tricky to follow in places, but it's the easiest way to
get to the cache.
The cache is a clear 2 litre container (thanks SG-3!). Original
contents: bandaids, sunscreen, a selection of pegs (3 x 175mm, 3 x
22mm), 6mm guy rope with wood runner, mini LED torch key ring, a
selection of batteries (3 x AAA, 3 x AA), needle & thread kit,
a Tasmanian Devil, a "First to Find - Woohoo!" badge, and a "Second
to Find - Boohoo!" badge. You are invited to stick with the camping
supplies theme.
Bonus marks for anyone who can predict what I’m likely to
forget the next time we’re camping here and leave a spare of
it in the cache for me!
NOTE: Lately I’ve been feeling strongly that “the
journey is more important than the find” (probably because I
haven’t been getting enough finds myself), so could you
please avoid the temptation to post a comment such as
“I’d love to come back here when I’ve got more
time.” You have been warned!
