This cache has been archived.

Secret Spies: Thanks to everyone who visited the cache and took some great pictures! I had a wonderful time in Milton Keynes but... it is time to make room for the new cachers and I look forward to caching in MK in the not too distant future!

All the best

Geocache Description:

12 Days of Caching in MK

Over the last year, Milton Keynes has become a hive of caching activity with both new caches and cachers springing up all over the place. To celebrate the culmination of our first year of caching, we've put together a series of caches entitled 'The 12 Days of Caching in MK' and we hope you enjoy it!

On the 12th Day of Caching, my true love gave to me, 12 Roundabouts,
On the 11th Day of Caching, my true love gave to me, 11 Linear Parks,
On the 10th Day of Caching, my true love gave to me, 10 Hidden Forests,
On the 9th Day of Caching, my true love gave to me, 9 Balancing Lakes,
On the 8th Day of Caching, my true love gave to me, 8 Local Pubs,
On the 7th Day of Caching, my true love gave to me, 7 Canal Bridges,
On the 6th Day of Caching, my true love gave to me, 6 Historical Sites,
On the 5th Day of Caching, my true love gave to me, 5 Concrete Cows!
Padumdumdum....

Created in 1978 by Canadian artist Liz Leyh, with the help of local schoolchildren, the cows have lead a rather adventurous lifestyle having being kidnapped and held to ransom, decapitated Damien Hirst style by vandals and headlined the Cambridge Folk Festival.

Due to the problems with vandalism and in recognition of the popularity of the cows, The Parks Trust commissioned a second herd of cows to ensure that the city would never be without their beloved mascots. The second set of cows are still currently grazing at Bancroft Park in north Milton Keynes.

First off, I know that there are only 6 Cows, but the song requires a particularly important '5th' line (hopefully you'll sing along too!)

Now, down to the cache: There are two things you need to do to log the cache:

  1. Find the cache which IS at the above coordinates. Sign the log. The container is a 450ml clip lock box. Please ensure it is well wedged into its hiding place and mind the thorns!

  2. Have your picture taken with one of the world famous cows! Note that the cows are one big happy family so if your 'team' consists of more than one member, make sure to try and get as many people in the picture as possible! Logs without a picture will be summarily deleted and if for some reason you don't want to be seen on the site, get someone to take a picture of you riding off into the sunset on one of the trusty mounts!
