Lord Farquaard sends the ogre Shrek to
retrieve Fiona from the tower to be his bride. When he first
appears she is angered to learn her rescuer is not her prince
charming, but an ogre, and that the man she wants to marry would
not come himself.
At first she refuses to travel to Farquaard,
but eventually befriends Donkey and develops a bond with Shrek. Her
Dragon guardian in the tower later falls in love with
Donkey.
Fiona is cursed and while she is a human by
day, she becomes an Ogress at sunset. The spell was placed on her
when she was a child, by a witch.
She is eventually kissed by Shrek, and the
spell is lifted, and she permantly becomes an ogress, Shrek assures
her she is still beautiful, and the pair marry.....
