Geocache Description:

Olomana is O'ahu's version of the Matterhorn in Switzerland

Olomana

Matterhorn

The odd-shaped mountain that is Olomana is a remnant of lava that pooled within the Ko'olau caldera millions of years ago. The word Olomana translates to English as “forked hill.” In Hawaiian legends, Olomana was a fearsome evil warrior who stood 12 yards high.

Olomana has three distinct peaks: Ahiki, Paku'i and Olomana

While it is commonly accepted that the first and highest peak is named Olomana, there is some debate about which peak is Paku'i and which peak is Ahiki; many people refer to them today as Peaks 1, 2 and 3.
