OK - let me first say, this is a beautiful trail. The name is tongue in cheek, mostly. But for the love of god, please wear the right things on your feet!!! Also, it's a micro. In the woods. Read the description well, and it shouldn't be too bad. Enjoy the scenery. And carry on further to meet up with the main trail, for more cachy goodness!
The cache is slightly larger than a film cannister, and contains logging materials, as well as a micro coin, initially.
If you park at the Sandhill Side Trail entrance (where markirene have conveniently placed a cache) on the Pine Glen Road, this is your best (and shortest) approach, It's a few hundred metres along the trail from the Side Trail entrance. The cache will be in a LARGE stump, which is a result of a large tree cracking off - which is also there. It's visble from the trail, 15 - 20 m in. Coming from the Side Trail trailhead, the cache will be on your left.
Don't worry, I wouldn't place a micro in the woods, without rewarding you with a larger cache, further along the trail where it meets the main Dobson Trail, at the 10 km marker.
Oh, and another one was placed at around the 8.3 km point or so. Bring galoshes or hip waders, just in case. Seriously.
Jan. 14 - I edited the name slightly after a phone call from a cofused cacher - "Is it Sandhell or hill?". So, yes, it's "hell" on purpose, referring to the possible condition of the trail when you attempt it, but it is the Sandhill trail. Clear? Probably not...at least I tried!
