San Juan Extension Traditional Cache

Ponder&Wander: I checked on this cache yesterday. The large host (tree stump) is now loose in the ground, and will eventually topple on it's own. If a cacher were to pull hard enough on it now, it would likely fall over, presently a real danger for serious human injury. the host is situated on a steep slope. Therefore I am archiving this 15 1/2 year old cache. It has served its purpose.

Geocache Description:


If you've found "Spookey Conundrum" cache, "San Juan Extension" cache is located along the trail east of the cul-de-sac parking area. The most direct approach from the ferry terminal is to walk east along the new paved shore trail. A very scenic way for those with wheels is to turn north off of Highway 20 at the San Juan Passage sign (N48* 30.150, W122* 30.000), and proceed to N 48* 30.196, W122* 40.042. (a "T" in the road). Park there and walk down the new brick and stone stairs, to the newly paved shore path. The quickest approach that requires the least physical effort is the turn west at the "T" and drive down to the west end of the newly paved shore trail. Park there and begin your level walk. This can be a beautiful walk particularly at sunset, as the ferries make there way to and from the San Juan Islands. Cache can also be reached from the ferry terminal via a short stretch of sandy beach and a level trail that extends basically east. The cache is on the uphill side of the trail and very close to it. Please place cache back exactly as found it with the given camo. It not visible from the trail and watch out for snoopy eyes. Place camo material back over the cache. BYOP
