Hawkes Bay
The Family came to New Zealand from Jersey, they purchased land, part of which later became this reserve. The gates of the Reserve were built with support of families descended from the original and with the Assistance of Rotary International (Local Branch)
The co-ordinates supplied are for the carpark.
Waypoint one is S39 32.AAA E176 50.BBB
Where AAA = Last 2 digits of the year Charles arrived in Hawkes Bay, Multiplied by 2, subtract 19, and add the result to the last 3 digits of the Southern co-ordinates for the carpark.
And BBB = The last 3 digits of the Southern co-ordinates for waypoint 1, divided by 2, and add 4.
There is a lovely area set aside with tables for picnicing, but at the moment there are no Toilets on site. The reserve is open 365 days a year, dogs are allowed in the reserve but must be on a leash at all times due to sheep in residence.
There is a track which goes around the base of the hill then up and over, and there is another track that goes up and over. Either way if you keep going you will end up back at the picnic area. The walk will take about 30 min from picnic area back to same.
Cache is Sistema box,initially contained: Logbook and pencil, Blue pencil Gooshy, Coffs Harbour coin, Purple Jandal, Paua shell necklace.
