Geocache Description:

A short hike in Ring Hill Forest.

Welcome to Runhills Bistro. How are you this evening? Would you care to see the wine list while you nibble at an appetizer? Oh, sorry, we don't have any of the appetizers left, and the wine cellar is closed for repairs. The menu? Certainly. Yes, the veal is delicious, but so sorry, sir, we have just run out. Of course, madam, the pasta with clam sauce is a wonderful choice, but, oh dear, the clams are out of season...

Runhills' "Feast" was a place devoted to a full 5-course meal of bushwhacking. Its recent closure prompted me to open this somewhat less extravagant little bistro. AndrewRJ felt similarly, it would appear. Vain attempts to fill the void, but we must muddle through in these lean times.

Runhills' Evergreen's Feast cache series was my introduction to this sport or game or whatever. To look at some of the logs for the various caches in the series, see the link:

So, payback time. But it can't be a "feast" anymore, just a snack, really just to whet your appetite, now that the forest has been logged. At least, the walk in is easy. Finding the container (an approx. 1" diameter by 2" long tube) may be difficult for some, as it is well hidden, yet its location is in plain sight. Like, kinda evil; Russell Nail would be proud. We waited for the snow to melt, so as not to leave obvious footprints, and then David (age 6) and I hiked our way in by moonlight to make the hide. No further clues, although some thing(s) on this web page and/or linked to it, however tangentially, may help.

There is no need to dig or burrow and cause damage to dirt or rotten wood, nor to uproot, or tip over anything living including moss (much less cows). Once found you can pull/slide the camouflage away from the container. Opening the container may be difficult if you don't have strong fingers, and especially if the weather is cold, bring a pair of pliers or a multi-tool to help. Nothing much is in the container except a nice, small, fully waterproof logbook (belt and suspenders failsafe). Not much room in it except for small pins or pathtags. Bring your own writing utensil, I'm always losing them. Please wipe the seal clean before replacing the cap, and please re-camo and re-hide the container in the same spot you found it; or report it to me if it is damaged and that becomes not possible. If you really need a clue, email to the owner is always an option.
