Geocache Description:

Join us in helping to make Sierra Vista a cleaner and more beautiful location.

Anyone who has been in the Sierra Vista area long enough has seen the dramatic growth and simultaneous reduction in open space. About the only undeveloped space now is state trust land. This CITO event is the first of several planned events to accomplish two goals:

1. Make Sierra Vista a more beautiful place to live.
2. Show the community that geocachers (and geocaching in general) are/is a productive activity which gives back to the community. (maybe they won’t muggle so many of our caches if they know more about us)

The focus area of this clean up is part of a larger area called “Area two” by the Sierra Vista Department of Community Development. It is bordered to west by Coronado Drive. The wash and surounding area is filled with trash and debris.

When I contacted the city of Sierra Vista for permission to host this event, they were very supportive. So supportive in fact, that they are donating some of the needed resources. (Trash bags and a dumpster) I’ll have several coolers of water available as well as an ATV and trailer for picking up some of the bigger bits of trash, as well as hauling back the bags of trash to the dumpster.

The area is fairly large and is in very bad shape. I don’t expect we’ll get it all done, but the more cashers that can attend this event, the more we’ll get cleaned. I strongly encourage pants and long sleeve shirt as well as gloves.

Our first cleanup day will be February 16th, 2008 and we ask for all the help we can get.

This CITO event will begin at 8am meeting.

Thank you in advance for assisting and helping to show the community that Geocachers are doing our part. Please let us know how many will be with you so we can plan working groups for each area.

P.S.We’ll also set up a table for any coin/bug trading/discovery you might wish to do.
