Geocache Description:

A regular cache on some nice trails - great for the kids.

This cache was placed for the Re-Gift-O-Rama Event held in Collins Park in Jan 2008. Since the event some of the land has been sold off and you need to use the pkg coords given for the alternate trail head. Collins Park offers a pavilion, baseball field, grills, many trails and a playground for the kids. Bathrooms are available seasonally.

Twenty five years ago the trails in this area were more significant and were the primary routes for Shenendehowa students to get to the library, the mall and home after school. At that time, many trails criss-crossed the woods in this park and continued across Rt. 146 to additional trails that included many large sand dunes. The trails were used as a shortcut as well as a fun place to ride bikes. Sadly, today most of the trail system is gone - having been graded and replaced by commercial development.



UPDATE 5-12-12 The cache was replaced and is now a camo'd waterproof match container, still a relatively easy find - and an easy hike for a family. Although it can be done in the winter, more than a foot will make this a tough one.

Please park at the posted parking coordinates ****DO NOT park at the school when attempting this cache****.
