How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

You are looking for a large power tool box right off the Golden Orb Trail. Please replace as found and recover with care.

While traveling through the Florida Keys, take some time to stop and enjoy one of Florida's most unique State Parks. Long Key State Park at mile marker 67.5 contains the remains of ancient coral reefs that were formed over 100,000 years ago when the sea level was 20 to 30 feet higher than it is today. There are a large variety of trees and shrubs including gumbo limbo, poisonwood (abundant), mahogany, Jamaica dogwood, and crabwood. You will also find an abundance of marine life and wading bird species in the mangrove-lined shallow water lagoons. There is a modest entry fee to enter the park, but well worth it. Camp sites are also available right on the water!

Be sure to tell the rangers that you are geocaching. They welcome cachers and their 'conservation-minded' ways, plus it's always a good idea to remind them how geocaching is bringing more people to their beautiful parks!
