Geocache Description:

Well my first cache is dedicated to the Men and Women of the United States Air Force and as a fond reflection of mine and my wife's 40+ years of military service.

I did more than 21 years of active duty service and she did more than 22 years. We raised two wonderful daughters and the four of us were able to see some wonderful places all around the world.

This cache is placed North East of Forbes Field and while taking this hike you may have the opportunity to see a KC-135 Strato-Tanker flying about. These tankers belong to the 190th Air Refueling Wing of the Kansas Air National Guard. These tankers are a reminder that the members of the armed services have no hours, they are on duty, 24,7 year round.

Please park at Herrman's Trailhead (N 38° 58.308 W 095° 40.313) and stay on the Landon Nature Trail Property.

The trail is open from sunrise to Sunset and you may see Turkeys, Deer, Dove, Geese and Quail, plus the occasional Muggle.

If you find this, please COVER IT BACK UP....thank you...

I hope you enjoy this cache and the small hike getting to it. You are looking for a Small plastic Tackle Box, about 5x7 inches in side.

This Cache is named after the Air Force Hymn, Lord Guard and Guide the Men who Fly. (Lyrics Below)

Lord, guard and guide the men who fly
Through the great spaces of the sky;
Be with them traversing the air
In darkening storms or sunshine fair

Thou who dost keep with tender might
The balanced birds in all their flight
Thou of the tempered winds be near
That, having thee, they know no fear

Control their minds with instinct fit
What time, adventuring, they quit
The firm security of land;
Grant steadfast eye and skillful hand

Aloft in solitudes of space,
Uphold them with Thy saving grace.
O God, protect the men who fly
Thru lonely ways beneath the sky.
