Healthy water. Ronneby Brunn. Inside this old, beautiful round
building, the oldest of all in the Brunnsarea, one can drink
the”healthy water”. Every Sunday in the summer from May
to September. And that have last for around 280 years! Already
1726, A E Ferber opened the first healthy water well .
But it last into early 18-hundred, before the drinking took
place in any amount. This beautiful building replaced the old one
in 1846. Originally its place was some250 meter NW of this place.
Today whole the area is named Ronneby Brunn. The hotel, park with
the beautiful forest, and surrounding buildings. But from the very
beginning it was just only this well with ferrous rich water, that
was the “Brunn “.
Here was “fine” people from the entire Europe meeting
summertime, drinking (mostly water maybe??). For instance the
people around the Russian Tsar come her to scrubbing each other
with the society. One day a year, normal, simple people was aloud
to came and drinking, just for free. It was, and still is, called
Tosia Bonnadan, in English: The crazy farmers’ day. It still
exists, the second Sunday in July every year.
The water drinking and spa life was on its top around 1890-1915.
WW1 was beginning of the end for “fine peoples”drinking
in Ronneby Brunn. The whole business went bankruptcy around 1935.
The big hotellbulding was destroyed of fire 1959. The new one you
can see nowadays was built in haste 3 years later. The old hotel
was Northern Europe’s biggest tree building.
When you strolling around in the nice surroundings, have in mind
once upon in early 19-century, here was dubbel the amount of
houses. Some have burned down; some have been too old in lack of
maintenance and have been pulled down. Today Ronneby Brunn is the
outstanding most popular congress and conference site in Sweden.
And we are very proud of it. The park was chosen
“Sweden’s most beautiful park 2005”. Every Sunday
from May to October, in Brunnshallarna is one of Sweden’s
most spectacular and famous flee market.
Between the two pictures is over 100 year!
