4 caches located along a looping trail in the Bates Memorial State Park.
Check out mass.gov/dcr/ under Pittsfield State Forest to see the map south of RT 20 showing the trail system (including the Beacon Trail).
There are 4 gravestones in the nearby Bates family cemetery along Rt 20. So, there are 4 caches (one for each gravestone) each named after the Bates family members memorialized on each of the gravestones.
Note, there is a cache located near the cemetery. GC17NT4
The total loop (if you choose to do all 4 at one time) is about 2 miles long with an elevation gain of about 450’.
All caches are winter friendly and are fairly close to the trail so no major bushwhacking is necessary. Some caches have assorted trade items.
Begin with the William and Marie cache.
When you put the cache back, please wedge it in tightly.
