Geocache Description:

The box is hidden in a seven-trunk willow. Not at the lowest point…. Please cover it by branches.

It is a beautiful place. Our friends from Körmend talked about it and invited us here and it is true we’ve been amazed too.
Ten years ago here, at the joint of river Pinka the river Rába was swelled up by a brushwood dam, which helped the water-powerstation work resulting general satisfaction. The dam built of woods and wowen by wires sustained for years against floods. Children played on its top and the river was very rich in fish offering an excellent facility for anglers. A lot of pike, catfish and even trout was caught here.
This dam became an industrial monument, but unfortunetly ten years ago, who knows why, was strengthened by huge rocks and concrete, covering this treasure. The wildlife of water has been devastated, although the loss of fish is also due to the environmental pollution of Austria.
Under the concrete dam the old brushwood is still can be seen, we can notice the wires and the branches. The traces will surely be spotted by hawk-eyed players.
The dam is still marvellous. The river Rába with its white-water, the inlet at the joint of river Pinka, the sunshine, the meadow, the trees, the small train passing, the anglers, and the children bathing in summer….make it a really pleasant place.
How to approach:
(you cannot make a beeline for the cache)
When you drive on Route 8, turn into the street beside a restaurant named „Berki Csárda” in Körmend and after passing the football field cross the dam and stop here: N 47° 0,0290' E 16° 35,1380' 187 m [GCKRG+parking]. Now go on foot by the small path through the bushes. Go up to the embankment and proceed on the railway-bridge of Pinka (watch out for the trains, especially with children). Turn left here: N 46° 59,9320' E 16° 35,2170' 197 m [GCKRG+left] approx. halfway between the Pinka and the Rába when you find another small path leading to the brushwood dam.
