Fire lookout - Mount Frankland Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Balayang: I am regretfully archiving this cache since unfortunately there has been no action to restore it, or any communication from the cache owner, teamdundat, requesting additional time.

An ample opportunity has been provided for the Cache Owner to respond, but since this opportunity has been ignored, I can only conclude that the cache has been abandoned.

Caches archived under these circumstances are unable to be Unarchived, and this location is now available for the placement of a new cache, by somebody else.

Geocache Description:

A large Ammo can hidden 4 metres off the walk track just below the summit.

Welcome to another cache in the Fire lookout series from Teamdundat.

Mount Frankland is the southern most Fire Lookout tower in the smoke spotting network. It is located on top of Mount Frankland in the Mount Frankland National Park.

Access is via an established walktrack from the carpark and interpretive area below. The path is mostly hotmix or concrete, but becomes a steep steel staircase at one point, which is the most challenging part of the climb. The total accent should take no more than 30 - 40 minutes, and the decent a bit less.

On a clear day you can get 360 degree veiws for at least 100 kms. If you get there during the fire spotting season, say hello to Towerman Ted, as we did.

The Cache contains all the usual Teamdundat goodies, in a well cammo'd ammo tin.
