Geocache Description:

Legend tells of a fortune in gold hidden by the Inca. You believe it's stashed in a remote section of Ecuador. There's only one way to find out, isn't there?

Peru, 1532. Despite being outnumbered, Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro conquered Cajamarca, capital of the Inca empire. One of his first tasks was to imprison their leader, King Atahualpa. For his part, Atahualpa promised to give Pizarro a huge sum of gold and silver in exchange for his release. After both sides agreed to terms on the "king's ransom," the Inca began gathering the precious metals.

The Spanish, however, were not to be trusted. Eight months after being captured, Atahualpa was put on trial and executed. Word of the king's death reached an Inca general by the name of Ruminahui, who was in the process of ferrying 750 tons of gold to Cajamarca. Upon hearing the news, Ruminahui turned around and headed for Ecuador. He led his group into the mountains and hid the gold in a secret location.

Ecuador, present day. Your research has led you to the ancient city of Ingapirca, one of Ruminahui's frequent stops. You believe the long-lost gold is here, but where to start? The entrance to a large temple is nearby.
