"Whenever I drive past here, an old TV show theme song from my
childhood runs through my head... "Car 54 Where are you?"
I actually remember very little of this show, which hasn't been
re-run anywhere near as often as The Munsters, I Love Lucy, Hogan's
Heroes, etc. from the black and white days.
I vaguely remembered the theme song, the "Ooh! Ooh!" of one of
the main characters, and the fact that the other lead was Fred
Gwynne, who went on to play Herman Munster (amongst other
things.)

A couple of bits of trivia:
The police car was painted red, so it would look like the right
"colour" in B&W, but not alarm the populace during location
filming.
In a car chase at the start of "
The Incredibles", the police car has the licence plate
"KR54"
The cache is an ammo box, with all the usual stuff, including a
Bear_Left utility card."
