The Bishop Mill Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

DRMOO: Too many problems associated with this bridge which hosts the container. Better to archive and hope another cacher will recognise this historic place and make a hide nearby as a replacement. Nice if the name Bishops Mill will be used :)

Geocache Description:

Interesting local area history lesson.

This little park is a commemoration to the pioneering Bishop Family who’s roots go back before the 1880s where they established a planing mill using power from the waters of the adjacent Wye River. There was a fire during 1881 following which Abraham Bishop’s brother in law William Vansickle rebuilt the mill for continuing operation whilst Bishop established a cabinet making and undertaking firm. Bishop’s son Franklin continued this business up to the early 1950s. The cache is a micro holding only a log book. Stealth required as parkette frequently visited and a small playground is quite active.
